Site Director
Foynes to Limerick Road Project (including Adare Bypass)
Role
To lead the direction and site management of small to medium complex archaeological sites on Ireland’s largest archaeological project in 2024!!
You’ll be responsible for:
- Motivating site team and ensuring quality delivery of results while always maintaining oversight of health and safety.
- Management of teams of Site Assistants, Excavation Supervisors and Surveyors.
- Ensuring the smooth transition of project from fieldwork to post-excavation.
- Liaising with statutory and non-statutory authorities.
- Providing quality excavation reports, site bulletins, site assessments, field inspections and dissemination outputs. Contribute to the constant review of health and safety to maintain the highest standards on site.
- Maintaining site attendance records, timesheets and timescales to ensure projects are kept on time.
You’ll need to be highly motivated, flexible, innovative, conscientious and efficient in all aspects of the job. Ambassador for AMS and the excavation works on site and in the community. The role requires building good relationships with clients, specialists, statutory bodies and team members.
Main Duties
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of small to medium archaeological field projects of all types
- Ensure professional standards of work are maintained and projects are completed to time and budget
- Complete post-excavation analysis and reporting on projects in a timely manner and to the highest professional standard
- Develop methods of project initiation, execution, and delivery
- Provide management, professional guidance, mentoring and on-the-job training for team members
- Ensure team comply with all operational and health & safety policies and procedures
- Ensure that any reporting outputs are checked in accordance with the AMS quality control process
- Oversee the dissemination and community engagement elements of site works
- Liaise with client and subcontractors when required
- Liaise with Senior Archaeologist regarding finance of the project
- Maintain project folder on SharePoint as per AMS guidelines
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 3+ years’ archaeological experience in the field in a commercial setting
- Eligible to hold an excavation licence in Ireland
- Relevant archaeology degree/ or equivalent
- Driver’s licence
- Safe Pass/manual handling

- Excellent knowledge of archaeology and heritage including relevant legislation

- Excellent computer skills (MS Office Word & Excel – minimum)
