Site Assistant
We are looking for archaeologists to join upcoming projects nationwide (immediate starts in Limerick, Cork, Galway and Dublin).
Role
This is a great opportunity to join a supportive team of professional archaeologists, where you will be mentored and gain hands-on experience using the latest technology and best-practice.
The role offers exposure to a variety of archaeological activities, including working with artefacts and environmental samples, contributing to site records and archives, and supporting the preparation of archaeological reports.
You will work closely with Supervisors and Site Directors in an open, collaborative environment, making this an ideal role for early-career archaeologists looking to develop their skills.
Main Duties:
- Taking part in excavation and recording of archaeological features in line with AMS standards and guidelines
- Accurately completing site records and data entry
- Working safely at all times and supporting a strong health and safety culture on site
- Communicating openly with the Supervisor and Site Director
- Helping to maintain site areas and care for equipment
- Being a positive and supportive team member and contributing to good morale on site
- Representing AMS professionally in all interactions with team members, clients, and the public
- Assisting with artefact and environmental processing when required
Requirements
- Relevant archaeology degree / or equivalent
About You
- A genuine interest in archaeology and heritage
- An understanding of archaeological fieldwork processes, or a strong willingness to learn
- Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfortable using computers, with basic skills in MS Word and Excel
- Reliable, well organised, and able to manage your time effectively
